The practical Webflow SEO checklist
A launch-day system for metadata, indexing, schema, redirects, and CMS content.
Treat SEO as a release process: establish one indexable URL, describe it accurately, and verify what a crawler actually receives.
Metadata and search appearance
Write a distinct title and description for every indexable template. Keep CMS fields editorially useful instead of assembling vague strings from several fields.
Set one canonical URL, a useful social image, and descriptive alternative text. Preview the output with real long titles before launch.
- One descriptive H1 per page
- Canonical URLs use the production domain
- Open Graph and Twitter cards match the page
Indexing and site structure
Keep important pages reachable through ordinary links. Use noindex for thin utility pages, but do not block those URLs in robots.txt because crawlers must read the directive.
- Submit a clean XML sitemap
- Redirect retired URLs once
- Check staging-domain and duplicate-page settings
Verify the published site
Inspect the rendered HTML, test structured data, and crawl the production hostname. Search Console should confirm the result, not reveal the first round of problems.
